We're going on a retreat! This May, we are heading up to Spruce Lake Retreat in the Pennsylvania Poconos for a fun weekend away. If you would like to know more of the heart of our church, get more involved in the life of the community, and have a weekend of joy and relaxation, this is the weekend! See below for details and answers to frequently asked questions.  If there's not an answer to your question below, please email Tristan.

Rooms and beds will be assigned. Because of the limited number of beds, every application will be have to be approved before payment is taken; this will ensure no one pays for a bed arrangement that is not available.

When you register, you will need to select if you'd like a single bed, a queen bed, or if you'd like to share a queen bed. If you would like to share a queen bed you must also identify who will register and share the bed with you. If you are married and would like to share the queen bed you will need to identify who will register and stay in the bunkbed (2 single beds) in your room. There is one queen bed and one bunk bed (two single beds) in every room. 

You will also need to sign this waiver in order to complete your registration. We will have copies for you to sign when you register at the Communications Table.

Each adult must read and fill out the first three pages of the waiver.

For a family with children, one parent must fill out all four pages of the waiver for himself/herself and their children.

Because of insurance reasons, you cannot attend the retreat without completing and signing a waiver.

Registration is also available every Sunday after the gathering at the Communications Table. 



You will receive final payment instructions after your application has been reviewed.

Payment can be made in full or in separate payments at no extra cost. You will be able to pay by credit card, check, or cash when you register at the Communications Table on Sundays. Or per instructions after your online application has been reviewed. You must complete payment by Sunday, April 30. Your registration will not be complete until you have finished payments. 



We have 16 rooms. Each room has one queen bed and one bunk bed (two single beds). That means we can fit up to 4 people per room. Registration will close when all beds are filled.

  1. For a single bed (bunkbed) your total cost for the trip will be $150.
  2. For a whole queen bed your total cost for the trip will be $175.
  3. To share a queen bed your total cost for the trip will be $125.

*At registration, if you wish to share a queen bed, you must identify who will register and share the bed with you. **At registration, if you are a married couple and would like to share a queen bed, you will need to identify who will register and stay in the bunkbed (2 single beds) in your room.

We have a few special accommodations available for families with children. Please email Tristan if you would like information about one of these options.


We want you there! Anyone is welcome to request a scholarship before April 16 — once we have all requests, we will be able to determine how many individuals we can assist with payment. Scholarships will be issued as half-price discounts . In your scholarship request form, please feel free to let us know if there are any special circumstances that should be taken into consideration. 


There are a very limited number of scholarships available for the retreat. If you would like to help provide more, email Tristan or drop a check in the offering box on Sunday with the memo "family retreat scholarship."


1. Meals

Healthy meals, from breakfast on Saturday morning through breakfast on Sunday, are included. Feel free to pack extra snacks to share during free times! There are also vending machines on the grounds, at the camp office, and coffee, tea and water available throughout the day. 

If you have a dietary restriction or allergy, the camp is happy to accommodate it! Simply let us know when you register.

2. Bedding

Spruce Lake provides bedding and pillows. 

3. Transportation

We will be renting vans for the weekend.

4. Leaving NYC and Returning

Friday, May 19, we will have at least one van leaving NYC at or around 2pm from St Pauls, and we will have at least one van leaving NYC at or around 7:30pm from St Pauls. There will be no meal that evening, so please plan on eating dinner ahead of time.

Sunday, May 21, we will depart from Spruce Lake at 11:45am. We will have our regular service at St Pauls at 4:30 P.M.

If you can't take off work or leave early on Friday, come after you're done or drive up early morning Saturday. You will be responsible for getting to Spruce Lake. If you take the bus to Mt. Pocono, someone can come and pick you up from the bus station. Be advised that the cost is the same, regardless of your length of stay. 

5. Smoking and Alcohol Policy

Because it is set in the woods, Spruce Lake has a strict "No Smoking" policy.  If you need to smoke during the trip you must go off the camp grounds, otherwise it will jeopardize our contract with the camp.

Alcohol and other drugs are also prohibited on camp property.

6. Activities

The campground is large and provides many options for activities, such as hiking, volleyball, basketball, baseball, frisbee, tennis, horseshoes, disc golf, miniature golf, and more!
