"The most important one [commandment]," answered Jesus,"is this: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." - Mark 12:29-31

We take the words and life of Jesus seriously. Jesus inextricably links loving God and loving our neighbor. In light of this, we believe doing justice and loving mercy are not merely noble extracurriculars but essential to following the Way of Jesus and the natural outpouring of abiding with Him.

The Gospel Justice Initiative (GJI) is committed to seeing believers of Christ transformed into followers of Christ. We believe that genuine love of others goes hand in hand with sanctification and discipleship. We seek to join our faith with our works by faithfully creating spaces where we submit our hearts (prayer, confession, & repentance), minds (education & research), and strength (fellowship & service) to God's call to love Him wholly and love our neighbors as ourselves.

Kindles are available for loan by the connections table during our post-service meet and greet time. This Library builds on the documentary viewings, as we continue to self-educate and pursue God’s justice and righteousness with our heads, hearts and hands. Kindles are available to borrow with recommended foundational texts to help expand your knowledge on issues of racial justice, systemic injustice and other related topics.

Longing to serve the community in community? Join a GJI bi-weekly service group! These groups are part of our Community Audit whose aim is to help us gain a more informed understanding of the needs of our community, and the organizations doing the work to help to help meet them. The number of participants needed are limited and will vary depending on the event, so don’t delay in signing up!

Sign ups are located at the Justice Library table each Sunday by the Connections table. If you have any questions or want more information please email Rachel Ingram at justice@tgcchelsea.com.
